Hot news: Nikkei Asia Review reports that “Apple will produce millions of its popular AirPods wireless earphones in Vietnam for the first time this quarter.” Currently the majority (3-4 million units) of AirPods are produced in China. So, around 30% of total output of classic AirPods this quarter, will be made in Vietnam.
Reuters requotes but has not verified yet. Nguoi Lao Dong, a local newspaper notes that Vietnam’s authorities have granted a special license to an important Apple AirPods assembly unit to help Apple bring its engineers to Vietnam. Quoted by Zing News in December 2019, according to Information, two Apple AirPods outsourcing partners in China are negotiating to borrow hundreds of millions of dollars to expand production in Vietnam.
